Where there is good hiking and climbing, you’ll often find a selection of great mountain bike trails. The Drakensberg is no exception to this rule with some great Drakensberg mountain bike trails.
Mountain Biking at Antbear Lodge
Antbear Lodge offers a 5km and a 20km easy mountain bike trail with spectacular views. The trails are single track and you can take a picnic lunch with you to enjoy at the top of the hill.
Northern Drakensberg mountain bike trails
Centrally located in the Northern Drakensberg region is the Mountain Biking Adventure Center. Here you can rent bikes and get a pass to ride 150km of mountain bike trails.
Central Drakensberg mountain biking
Mountain Splendour in the Champagne Valley offers an easy 5km trail and a more technical 10km intermediate trail around the property can be extended by cranking off into nearby plantations (here you’ll find even more single-track and a good few challenging hills to boot). A permit to access the plantations can be obtained from reception, while a cool kiddies track with fun obstacles will keep the young ones occupied. A skills park is rumored to be in the pipeline.
Four Rivers offers an extensive variety of mountain bike packages tailored to suit all your requirements which include guided mountain bike trails.
Southern Drakensberg mountain biking
It’s a bit of a slog riding up the eight kilometers of steep gravel road that twists and turns up 972m of the famous Sani Pass. But coming down the Sani Pass is hair-raising. The occasional traffic, mist or thunderstorm, as well as sharp hairpin bends and vertiginous drops, increase the adrenaline factor significantly.
